1936 LEGEND BEN O. HOWARD-SIGNED CRASH COVER

                                                          (Cover credit: Staines collection)

This rare cover was carried aboard the 'Mr. Mulligan" Howard DGA-6 which crashed during the 1936 Bendix Transcontinental Air Race.
Howard and his wife Maxine were injured when Mister Mulligan lost a propeller blade and crash-landed near CrownpointNew Mexico during the latter stages of the 1936 Bendix (New York - Los Angeles) race. Howard recovered from the serious injuries resulting from the crash, but lost a leg in the accident and Mister Mulligan was destroyed
Note: Ben Howard made the final destination correction in his own hand to this pre-stamped cache cover.
